Marsha Michaels
I have been a student at OLLI at SF State for the past six or seven years. I took my first writing class with Barbara Rose Brooker. She helped me self-publish a memoir called Pulling At Straws. I also took a class with Dave Casuto, and we developed a website, where many of my stories can be found, along with cooking recipes. One of the “aerobics” Barbara used to stimulate stories was to write about a dream. My story in this issue of Vistas & Byways came out of that exercise. I followed up with other writing classes at OLLI, along with other diversified subjects. At 69, I finally feel I’ve been educated where I missed out in my youth. I have OLLI to thank for the enormous difference it has made in my life. |
